Claim your Future empowert studenten - ook in coronatijd!
Claim your Future werkt samen met partners in Spanje, Portugal, Duitsland, Engeland en Litouwen. We challenge you all to seek opportunities and try out different ways to collaborate and stay in contact with each other.'
'Especially in these times we want to give and get inspiration and energy'
"We are students of Claim your Future and decided to continue our activities despite the lockdown. Especially in these times we want to give and get inspiration and energy.
As students we gave a series of online workshops connecting local entrepreneurs to students from ROC Friese Poort. The main purpose of this workshop was to enable the students to learn about social entrepreneurship and familiarise them with the entrepreneurial opportunities that the Frisian region has to offer. Next to this we also gave an online workshop to different European students involved with Claim your Future in which we thought about the strengths and weaknesses of distant learning during the pandemic.
During these trying times, many entrepreneurs struggle with switching their business to an online form and they have lots of questions and uncertainties regarding the future of their businesses. Yet these entrepreneurs are not the only ones dealing with issues of this kind. For teachers and students these are trying times as well. Teachers struggle to give shape to the way they transfer new knowledge and skills to the students and the students are having trouble to develop these new skills in practise. In the first series of workshops we focused on students and local entrepreneurs. By bringing both groups together in an online environment we tried to enable the students and entrepreneurs to share their knowledge and ideas regarding issues that both deemed important. By doing this the students provide the entrepreneurs with valuable new insights and strategies on how to stay afloat in this new online environment - in which the younger generation feels more at home.

The students learn a lot about entrepreneurship by this form of direct contact with experienced local entrepreneurs. This is especially important for the students because of the entrepreneurs 'real life experience'. By bringing these worlds together we inspire them to see a different perspective, learn from each other and to put their skills to practise.
The second workshop was all about distant learning and what students think is important to an online learning environment. We spoke with twelve students from four different countries. During this online session the students got the chance to interact with each other and learn about the way different countries give shape to their online lessons. We then asked them to think of the examples and stories they’ve heard about online lessons. This way we enable them to give feedback to their local schools and make distant learning more viable and in line with the expectations of the students.
As life shifts towards an era of online work, meetings and social activities, it soon became clear that 2020 was out to test our strength, determination and adaptability as a society. We challenge you all to seek opportunities and try out different ways to collaborate and stay in contact with each other. Again social inclusion plays a big part in creating a society in which people of all ages and backgrounds can find common ground on which they can grow and inspire each other to do something good for the community we live in. Especially now we want to promote the power of working together and seeking innovation. We as youths challenge you to inspire each other and to keep the connection to your community."
